In the interest of strict accuracy:

"You could easily save a life"

should probably read:

"This may be the best shot at saving a life you ever
get (let's hope)."

Sorry for the off topic post. I read about it in a
similarly off topic post elsewhere and figured if it
moved me there it could help here as well.

To bring this thread at least somewhat back on target,
here's a diet/charity subsystem that I've been
practicing for a few years now:

1. Problems: spare change seeks a vending machine. It
is a law of nature. And while I jam all these extra
calories into me, billions of people go hungry all
over the world.

2. Partial solution: all change goes into a charity
bucket to be donated via coinstar (or whatever) once a
year to fight hunger. You are much less likely to feed
the vending machine if you think you're stealing from
the mouths of starving children. Bigger bonus: some of
those children will actually be fed. It's a small
thing, but it's a start.

3. name: "donate your spare calories"

Sorry I've been out of it the last few days,
group-wise. Officially back in...

Best,

Reinhard
