As long as we're on the subject of drinks, I've been meaning to share something too. Between meals, tea, herbal tea, coffee, etc. are great (entertainment in times of boredom, if you're like me) but bouillon is also nice if you're hungry or just want something different. It's also good before a meal to quell your appetite a bit. (My mom once went on a diet on which you stirred wheat bran into bouillon as a sort of soup before each meal, to help you eat less.) I try to avoid MSG when I can, not because I'm sensitive but because I know it stimulates the taste buds for more-more-more. Many of the bouillon powders and cubes have MSG, but I have discovered "Better Than Bouillon" in my grocery store which seems fairly wholesome and has no MSG. It's not really expensive per serving, either. Here's a link to the product at Amazon for more information: http://tinyurl.com/5n2c7 I see they only list the "Organic Chicken" variety, which is $2 more, but you're more likely to find the regular chicken flavor in your store. It's very good. I've also tried the Lobster flavor but didn't like it plain--had to make it into Lobster Bisque instead (recipe on label). Diane |
