Thought I'd check in with a status report:
I dropped into maintenance mode for a couple of months while waiting for
a few minor medical issues to go away, and despite getting in nearly
zero intense exercise, keeping mostly No-S-ish kept off the weight I'd
lost before then (about 15 lbs, from 230 to 215) with no problem at all.
I didn't even really think about it; I figured that I had to prioritize
getting better over losing weight and didn't step on a scale for a month
at a time, but the habits were ingrained sufficiently that everything
stayed right where it should.
There aren't a lot of posts from people who have kept on with No-S to
maintain rather than lose, but there you have it. :-)
Since then I've been a bit more active and have had enough of an energy
store to go back to being a bit more *actively* No-S, and I'm on a roll
again -- 10 lbs in the last month or so, which brings me to a nice round
200. For the first time since my college 50 (woops) I've seen the scale
not reach the 200 mark. Jeans I bought a few months ago (and a size
down from usual, then!) are getting loose already.
BMI when I started: 29.5; now: 25.7. I've still got a ways to go but
I'm confident I'll get there easily at a healthy pace and stay there.
Keep at it, everyone. It works.
