Hi guys:)
I decided to buy some of those delicious McCanns steel cut oats
instead of the old rolled, instant kind...
I had a vague memory of how good real oatmeal is from back in the
days of going to sleepaway camp and various travelling/wilderness
experiences....There is no comparison. Yummy yum yummy! It's a
horse of a different color, flavor and texture....It is well worth
the initial prep time of 30-40 mins cooking time, as you can reheat
the leftovers if you make extra by just adding some more milk and
mushing it up over a low flame...A little butter, salt and
sugar...Today I reheated some from yesterdays breakfast and added a
teaspoon of applebutter, and some cinnamon to vary the taste :)
The oats texture are really what make the difference, kindof like
popping teeny little grapes in your mouth...Pop more than, crunch...
Also, instant oats is really stripped down to the least healthy part
of the grain...
Go for the whole oat! You won't be disappointed :)
Peace,
Deb
