I'm reminded of the question on www.nosdiet.com which goes "What if

am an idiot and insist on following the letter of the law but breaking
it in spirit by (say) [...] counting my second cousin's hamster's
birthday as an S-day?"
But in the end, it's entirely up to you what's an S-day or not;
there's no NOS police going around making sure that no pure-blood
Irish-Americans celebrate the Laotian Independence Day as an S-day (or
whatever).
