I am suspicious of deliberately causing one's body to make ketones. I am diabetic and have some damage to my retinas and am developing cataracts(My vision is still fine, but will deteriorate)These are common complications of diabetes, which when poorly controlled causes ketosis. I have read someone trying to say that ketosis caused by a ketogenic diet is quite different from Ketoacidosis caused by diabetes, but I am unconvinced.I now control my diabetes very well to reduce the damage being caused. Most must have happened before I was diagnosed. Then I was losing weight. The loss stopped after I got in control and now I have to work harder at it. I do write down what I eat and I have to check blood sugar daily for control.
