Sanjay, If what you describe below is your biggest problem, I'm optimistic. Your big plates might be big, but they are still "obvious." And this obviousness provides a kind of irritating (in a good way) friction that I'm pretty confident will shrink your portions without additional systemic intervention. Keep up the strict rules and the combination of healthy shame and a sense of what it takes to actually satisfy you will gradually whittle down your portions. I went through the same process (except with significantly less healthy Teutonic-American cuisine). Be patient, it takes a while. But it lasts a while. And it gets easier.
