Reinhard Hello Our No S Founder Who Art in Cambridge :) Call me a creature of habit, but I am just too used to saying No S day...and somehow "N-Day" just lacks some certain "je ne se quois" Also, I am laughing because we are talking about saving one syllables worth of speaking/writing energy! (talk about streamlining the ultralight of Diets, LOL)...and *now I* will get even *more* anal and go as far as saying that having N day alone is like thinking "today is a 'Non' day". Syntax and grammar-wise, something seems wrong about having a modifier like "Non" without the noun....When I studied linguistics at Columbia, we learned alot about the fine points of semantics...I loved that course. According to some great linguist, we are all born with an internal Language Acquisiton Device, abbreviated LAD..."N-day" feels wrong to my LAD and just plain "off".....I am the kind of person who cringes when people say "couth" when they mean the opposite of *uncouth*...the word doesn't exist...Yes I am an anal bugger. Call it what you wish, however I will stick with using the "classic" version :) Love "n" Peace, Deb |
