I wouldn't throw the bath out with the babywater :-). I don't know
the South Beach diet specifically, but understand it aims to control
insulin release/resistance by regulating carbs. I think there is a
lot to learn from these (Atkins, Protein Power, Zone, etc.). It's
unfortunate that many people don't read about those diets all the way
through. They seem to look at the title, read the first chapter, if
that much, and panic. In the end, IMO the diets are not no-carb, just
reasonable carb - sometimes up to 50%.

So, how about trying nos, but keep in mind the diet that has lost you
so much weight already (it sounds like a little too much, maybe,
extreme?). Zone seems to be the most moderate from the start - try
its ideas on filling the plate. Don't let any other diet rules ruin
your nos meals - just keep them in mind.

There is something to the diet you came from. Just mellow it and
blend it with sustainable nos.

If that is still too much, forget it and just do nos.

Tom
