You can't account for taste :)

I concur. Scales suck...I only use it once a week, when I know I 
haven't been too "off the path"
John Lennon doesn't :)
Just from hearing that first chord of Imagine on the piano always 
sends me into a better place...A simple beautiful sentiment and a 
very beautiful song. And he is and always will be my childhood and 
adulthood hero!
