I have found most Americans that I actually meet, warm and charming, but
since I invariably meet them here, I suspect I may be seeing a very select
number, who are aware of the rest of the world.I Don't know much about
he
American system of Health care I learned what I do know from "Diagnosis
Murder " and "Judge Judy", but what I know I find shocking. In pretty
much
all of Europe there is state health insurance , so that those who cannot
pay
are treated exactly the same as the richest in the land, except when they
opt to pay for private care. When Prince William was hit on the head with
a
golfclub as a little boy,He was treated in the same emergency department
as
my daughter when she fell off a balance toy and hurt her wrist.I was in
hospital for a longish time last year (I'd suffered a stroke)
and in the same rehab department was a young homeless man. I'm a middle
aged
woman.HE and I often ate lunch together.
I find the idea of medical care available only to those who can pay,
horrendous and uncivilised
